FOREWORD

Rapid growth is essential to raise the income of the masses in bring about a generl improvement in their living conditions. This must be accompanied by a major effort to provide access to basic facilities such as education, health, clean drinking water etc.
Education is the most critical element in empowering people with skills and giving them access to productive employment in the future. The link between education and the ability of the poor to transform their lives for the better is well established. Access to education can also provide better access to health and sanitation, gender equity, livelihood opportunities and can act as a powerful agent of social change.
The health system in the country is the mix of the public and private sector with NGO/ civil societies sector playing small but important role. Rural health care is the marked by absenteeism of doctors/health providers, low level of skills, shortage of medicines and inadequate supervision/monitoring and callous attitudes. Some States have started societies involvement which should be encouraged.
The people of the country must be able to control their own knowledge based development. For this, research and development is urgently required.
Development and empowerment of socially disadvantaged group is a commitment enshrined in the constitution. KESHRWANI SHIKSHA SAMITI has started number of programs for development of scheduled castes and scheduled tribes.
KESHARWANI SHIKSHA SAMITI has concerns for all these programs and during the year has concentrated on these schemes.
